Precalculus
Precalculus extends the study of functions. Students will be taught all the features of polynomial, radical, rational, exponential, logarithmic functions. Trigonometry will be taught with introduction of unit circle, periodic functions and graphing the sine, cosine and tangent functions.
Overview of the topics covered:
- Functions and transformations; inverse and composite functions; Even and Odd functions;
- Poynomial long and synthetic divisions; remainder and factor theorems
- Graphing polynomial functions using multiplicities and zeroes
- 3 variable system of equations, matrices
- Solving radical equations
- Trigonometry – unit circle, identities, functions
- Sequences and Series
- Logarithmic properties and functions
- Conic sections – circles, ellipses, parabolas and hyperbolas
