AP Calc BC

AP Calculus BC is an intensive exploration of advanced mathematical concepts that extends the foundations of Calculus AB into more complex territory. This course adds onto the concepts learnt in AB plus BC-exclusive techniques of integration, including integration by parts and partial fractions. The journey continues into the fascinating world of Parametric, Polar, and Vector functions, where students learn to analyze motion and area in non-rectangular coordinate systems. The pinnacle of the course is the study of Infinite Sequences and Series, where we dive deep into convergence tests and the power of Taylor and Maclaurin series to represent transcendental functions. By the end of this course, students will have developed the rigorous analytical skills necessary for success in multivariable calculus and beyond.

How I help students master these topics:

  • Mastering advanced integration techniques like integration by parts and partial fractions with ease.
  • Developing a visual and algebraic intuition for parametric equations and polar area.
  • Demystifying the convergence of infinite series and the construction of Taylor Polynomials.
  • Applying Euler’s Method and logistic growth models to real-world differential equations.
  • Refining technical communication and notation to maximize scores on the AP BC Free Response Questions.
  • Bridging the gap between AB fundamentals and the more rigorous requirements of a second-semester college calculus course.
