Algebra 2
Algebra II extends the study of functions to exponential and logarithmic functions, polynomial functions, radical and rational functions. Students are introduced to the concepts of vectors, matrices, and complex numbers and the arithmetic of the respective systems. Polynomial multiplications and factoring is the essential skill that the students will master along with handling fractional exponents and nth root radicals. Students are taught to identify and graph the key features of polynomial functions, radical and rational functions, exponential and logarithmic functions.
Students will master:
- Solving quadratic equations with complex roots
- Factoring polynomials of any degree using rational root theorem
- Graph and identify the main features such as end behavior, asymptotes, minimum/maximum, domain and range, symmetry etc of a variety of functions
- Represent a series in summation notation and evaluate
- Put all the functions in real world context word problems
